Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 September 2026
1. Introduction
ZapTH ('we', 'our', or 'us') is committed to protecting your privacy in compliance with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the ZapTH applications for iOS and Android.
2. Information We Collect
Location Data: With your permission, we access your device's location to show nearby EV charging stations and improve search accuracy. When you suggest a station, the map position you choose is sent with it, and that can be your current location.
Community Data: When you submit station reports, check-ins, reviews, or suggestions, this information is sent to our servers (hosted on Supabase) along with an anonymous device identifier. We do not collect your name, email, or phone number unless you provide them voluntarily.
Community Profile (iOS): If you set a display name, it is shown on the community leaderboard with your score, tier, check-in count, and a province from your check-in history. If you apply for Zappy Champions, your display name, that province, your community stats, and the motivation you write are sent to us for review.
Favorites & Preferences: Your saved favorites, vehicle profiles, and app settings are stored locally on your device.
Device Information: Station reports include an anonymous device identifier to prevent spam. On iOS, crash reports and anonymous usage statistics (Firebase) include your device model and iOS version. We do not collect other hardware information.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Location data is used to display nearby charging stations and calculate distances.
- Community contributions (reports, check-ins, reviews) are used to improve station data accuracy for all users.
- An anonymous device identifier is used to prevent duplicate submissions and to measure anonymous app usage.
- We do not sell, trade, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
ZapTH uses the following third-party services:
- Open Charge Map (openchargemap.org) — station data; requests may be logged by OCM.
- TomTom — station data, queried by our backend (not from your device).
- OpenStreetMap / Overpass — supplementary station data.
- Apple MapKit (iOS) and Google Maps (Android) — map display and navigation.
- Google Street View — station photos; Google Places — location search when you plan a trip (your typed search text is sent to Google).
- Google Gemini (via our secure backend) — powers the Zappy assistant; your chat messages and app context (vehicle, favourite stations, and your name if set) are processed to generate replies.
- Firebase (Google) — crash reporting and anonymous usage statistics on iOS; notification delivery (Cloud Messaging) on Android.
- Supabase — cloud database for community reports, check-ins, reviews, and suggestions.
Please review each service's privacy policy for details on their data practices.
5. Data Storage & Security
App settings, favorites, and vehicle profiles are stored locally on your device. Community contributions (check-ins, reviews, reports, and station suggestions) are sent to and stored on our Supabase-hosted backend, linked to an anonymous device identifier. All network communication uses HTTPS encryption. We retain community data only as long as necessary to maintain station accuracy.
6. Children's Privacy
ZapTH is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Your Rights (PDPA)
Under Thailand's PDPA, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
- Withdrawal: Withdraw consent at any time.
You can revoke location permission at iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → ZapTH · Android: Settings → Apps → ZapTH → Permissions → Location.
Android: Settings → Reset All Settings clears the data the app keeps on your device, such as favourites, vehicle profiles, your community profile and settings. iOS: the same button restores settings and vehicle profiles only; deleting the app removes the other data it keeps on your device, such as favourites, check-ins and photos (your Device ID stays in the iOS Keychain).
To request deletion of data stored on our servers, include your Device ID — copy it from Settings → About → Device ID in the app. Full instructions are on the data deletion page.
